PoolCoating System 10

The complete swimming pool coating system

Application Information

In selecting PoolCoating System 10 for your swimming pool you have chosen to reduce your year-on-year pool maintenance significantly. To get the longest life from your re-coated pool, we have put together the following information which you should read before applying the product. Of course, if you have any queries, do not hesitate to contact us.

1.  DESCRIPTION
PoolCoating System 10 is a twin pack water based resin coating designed for safe and easy application in the marine, aquatic and leisure industry. PoolCoating System 10 has many advantages over conventional swimming pool paint and other traditional coatings. Once dry, PoolCoating System 10 forms a tough waterproof non-toxic barrier that is resistant to oil and most mild chemicals. PoolCoating System 10 can be applied to sand and cement render, Marbleite and glass fibre as well as numerous other hard surfaces.

2.  PREPARATION
Surfaces must be clean and free of grease or other contamination. Surfaces can be slightly dampened but not wet or subject to running water. Do not use solvents of any type. Only use water based degreasers that can be washed away thoroughly and allowed to dry leaving no residue. All holes must be made good as they will fill up with with the coating and discolouration will occur and all leaks must be stopped using Antel Water Stop, Antel Epoxy Putty or Antel SBR Bonding Agent as appropriate. Where damp or wet surfaces exist constantly, seek technical advice. For pools that are already painted make good the surface and then sand and clean the existing paint or coating to ensure a sound base.

Do not apply PoolCoating System 10 to render that contains PVA as this does not allow penetration of the coating. Antel SBR Bonding Agent mixed in to the render is recommended as it increases the render's water resistance and reduces the possibility of cracking.

3.  MIXING
Stir the contents of the larger tin. Add the contents of the smaller tin to the larger tin and mix vigorously for 4 minutes to ensure thorough mixing. A drill equipped with a mixing paddle should be used.

4.  APPLICATION
Apply using brush, roller or airless spray. Allow PoolCoating System 10 to dry (normally 6 - 8 hours at 20°C). Drying time is dependent on temperature - warmer conditions shorten the drying time. Apply a second coat of PoolCoating System 10 when the first coat is touch dry. Finally apply a clear coating of PoolCoating System 10 once the second coat is touch dry.

Please note: PoolCoating System 10 is a coating system and not a paint. It is a chemically engineered two pack coating. Therefore, once mixed, you have 1 - 1½ hours  to apply the coating - this is referred to as the Pot Life. Full cure is the time it takes for the coating to become totally solid.

Pot Life 1 - 1½ hours at 20°C
Touch dry 6 - 8 hours at 20°C
Full cure 3 - 7 days

At increased application temperatures (above 20°C) the pot life is reduced and therefore application time is decreased.

5. Refilling a pool
Once PoolCoating System 10 is fully cured (3 - 7 days), wash pool with a hosepipe and drain before refilling.

6. Coverage
Depending on the surface coverage and porosity of the substrate, coverage is approximately 6 - 8 square meters per litre.

7. Cleaning
Brushes and rollers should be cleaned with cold water and detergent straight after use

8. Storage
Store PoolCoating System 10 in dry, cool and frost free conditions. Shelf life is 12 months.
